Last year, the Town of Tyngsborough was awarded a $2M MassWorks Grant for a public/private project behind the existing DPW yard on Kendall Road. The grant will fund the construction of a new, shared driveway to be called "Commerce Drive" which will provide access to the DPW Yard, the Park and Ride, and a permitted warehouse development on a private parcel behind the DPW yard. Once complete, Commerce Drive will become a public way. Additionally, the funding will be used for utility work, the widening of Kendall Road, limited expansion of the Park and Ride, and various roadway improvements. This funding was critical to unlocking the private parcel for development which will result in new tax revenue with very limited impacts on the Town's public services. When complete, the proposed warehouse development is estimated to generate close to $1M in new growth for the Town's tax revenue.
Additionally, as a part of this project the existing DPW building and a proposed new DPW building have utilites brought to the site at no additional expense to the Town.
This project is a partnership between the Town of Tyngsborough, Marcus Partners, SDG Development, and Brox Industries.
Residents are advised that work on this project has commenced and over the next few months there may be periods of time where limited lane closures are required. Work will commence in full swing this Spring. Please use caution when driving through active construction zones and follow all signage and instructions from detail officers.
