Each year, the Select Board works with the Town Manager's Office to develop a set of goals for the upcoming fiscal year. This year, the Select Board adopted their FY2026 goals at a meeting on August 18, 2025. These goals serve as the foundation of the projects, policy, and programming initiatives that the Town Manager's Office works toward each year.
For Fiscal Year 2026, the Select Board adopted 9 long-term goals and 9 short-term goals. Long-term goals are goals that may extend into future fiscal years while short-term goals are generally expected to be completed in the same fiscal year. Each goal includes milestones which are specific sub-tasks that must be completed to complete the goal. These are to act as guides throughout the process and often dictate how a goal should be achieved.
Each Select Board member brings their own goals to the conversation and the Board collectively discusses each and then adopts a final set of goals. It is the responsibility of the Town Manager to coordinate with other departments to achieve these goals. Periodically, the Town Manager will provide an update on the goals to the Select Board.
