Residents are advised that the Town of Tyngsborough is anticipating severe winter weather this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for our area beginning at 10:00 PM tonight (Friday, January 23, 2026) through tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM. During this period, wind chills could be as low as 20 degrees below zero. These dangerously cold wind chills could result in frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Residents are advised to avoid being outside during this period of time and to limit outdoor exposure to pets. Please keep an eye out for your neighbors and report unsafe conditions to the Tyngsborough Police & Fire Departments. For all emergencies, call 911.
Additionally, we are tracking a large winter storm which could deliver up to 20 inches of snow between Sunday morning and Monday evening.
As of today (1/23/2026), the following changes to Town services have been implemented:
- All bus trips provided by the Council on Aging, including trips to and from medical appointments, are canceled.
- All programming at the Center for Active Living has been canceled.
- The recycling center at the DPW Yard on Kendall Road will be closed.
Additional changes are likely as the timing of the storm is ironed out. Residents should check back often for updates or click here to sign up for alerts. Additionally, please be sure you are registered for our emergency alerts by clicking here.
Winter Storm Reminders:
- Parking on public ways is prohibited during snow events. The Tyngsborough Police will ticket and tow any vehicle parked on a public way impeding snow operations.
- Clear hydrants near your home to ensure quick access by the Fire Department in the event of an emergency at your home or on your street.
- Check on vulnerable neighbors and report unsafe conditions to 911.
- Charge electronic devices in the event of large-scale power outages.
- Stay off the roads unless you must absolutely travel. If traveling, drive slow & never crowd the plow.
As a reminder, the Tyngsborough DPW will be out in full force throughout the storm. During significant snow events, it is impossible for crews to clear all snow on every road at once. Storm clean up takes time and residents are reminded to be patient and avoid traveling until the storm ends.
